I only went to class once this week because I was sick one day. So that meant I had to work a lot at home to catch up. We continued to work on jeroo this week. Some of the labs really frustrated me, especially 3C and 3D. Most labs took some yelling at my computer before I finished them. The only labs I have left are 5A and 5C. I skip around a lot, but I'm caught up on everything. I'm slightly afraid of the final, but at least I will have extra time to work on it. And as long as I know how to do everything in jeroo I should be fine.

Last week we continued to work in jeroo. Jeroo has kind of grown on me even though I still don't see a practical application for it. Some parts of it don't seem helpful at all. I don't understand the point of "not" and I've managed to do all my labs without it. But I'm still learning it just in case it can be applied to something in the future. And maybe jeroo will give me some insight into something I do in the future.

Last week we worked on jeroo. I kind of hate jeroo. I'm not sure why. It might be because we're doing it right after scratch, which I like a lot, or it might be because it doesn't seem that useful to me.  We also took a quiz last week on jeroo. Some of the double negatives were very confusing and I didn't do so well. But I'm going to try to work on the one day I have this week. Now here's a lame joke for your enjoyment:

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Jer.
Jer who?
Jeroo!

This week we finished the activities in scratch from the last couple of periods. I had some trouble with the random character activity, but I completed it in the end. I liked being able to work together with people around me on these activities. If I didn't understand something I could just ask someone, and people also asked me to explain things to them. I also really liked scratch. It's easy to use and could be useful in the future.

We also decided to start working in jeroo from a class survey. I liked this survey system. It lets us as a class choose what we learn. I'm not sure if I like jeroo yet. It seems pretty limited in its applications, but I'm willing to keep working with it and learn more about it.

On Tuesday, we looked at image manipulation and picobot. The image manipulation was cool because I could turn an image that looked like nothing into something that was recognizable. I also liked picobot, though I didn't get as much time to play with it.

This week we also looked at scratch. I didn't realize how cool scratch is. When we looked at it before, I was sort of annoyed with it because it didn't seem like you could do a lot with it. But after we looked at the video game that someone made and I started exploring it more, I realized it's a lot more useful than I originally thought. It has a lot of different things that you can do with it. I'm excited to continue it next week!

This week we worked on html and css. Mr.Stephens was gone on tuesday, so we just continued working on our websites. Some people didn't understand that once we were done with our initial webpage we were supposed to start css. I personally looked at the website and saw that we were to begin css, so I did. At first css was confusing, just based off the instructions, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty easy. I understand that it can make some things easier, but sometimes I feel that it's over-complicating things. Css still hasn't won me over, but we'll see what happens in the future.

This week we learned about different ways to search and sort. I tried working with people that I generally don't work with. I didn't like it, but I will continue to try and diversify my groups.

We also looked at minimal spanning trees. I liked the activity we did, though I over complicated it again. Math once again proved its amazingness to me. That's it for now!

This week we looked different of interactions and what kind of data could be discerned from them. I hadn't really thought about this before but my life isn't really all that private. People could find out a lot just from a simple text message. This information makes me much warier of technology and my interactions.

We also looked at some problems and the different types of problem solving. I really enjoyed this activity. I tend to over complicate things and I got to look at some things where the simpler approach was much easier. I also learned that I solve most problems by creating a list or guessing and checking. This will be helpful in the future.

This week we looked at the different types of communication and privacy of data. We looked at how some things can get you in trouble if they are made public. Some of this really surprised me. Now I recognize that I have to be more cautious in the future.

We also watched some technology related videos. My favorite was Johnny Lee's presentation on the wii remote and its infrared light sensing. I had never thought about this technology that way, so seeing all the seemingly magical things that resulted from it was really interesting.

This week in the fabulous Computer Programming we looked at different Web 2.0 tools. I chose Blabberize. It's this random site where you can take a picture, designate where a mouth is, and it will move the mouth according to a recorded sound you add to it. I enjoyed it a lot, though it's not very practical. It's still pretty fun hearing Darth Vader's voice coming out of a cute little bunny. No problems this week and I hope you enjoyed this little update.
